FINAL REPORT

The fourth annual SK Underwriting Drawn Aussie Pairs at Javea Green, was a fantastic success. Two days of glorious weather, matched by some superb bowling, finished with food and music into the early evening. This event, played for prize money in excess of €1000, gives players of all abilities the opportunity to compete on a level footing. The Final was played out between Julie Nesbit-Bell with her partner David Bell and Peter Carrigan who was partnered by Joe Schulein. The match, played over 8 ends, saw Joe play a great draw shot with his last wood of the eighth end, to tie the match at 7-7 and send it into a sudden death final. David put his first wood very close and it proved to be unbeatable, as the opposition bowls came up just short or just missed the target.

A “Plate” competition ran alongside the semi-finals and Final of the main event and this saw a husband and wife playing each other, with Margaret Walker and David Osborne defeating Yvonne Carvath and Tony Walker by 11-6.

This event was also used as a vehicle to raise money for this year´s Captains Charity, which is ‘Cancer Care of Javea’. Prize money was donated to the Charity and a fabulous raffle, with gifts provided by our sponsors, helped to raise over €300. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
